The Stages of Coming Out
You may hold just learned that your child is lesbian, gay, bisexual person, or transgender. However, your child has probably been on this journey for months or years. The following stages are one way of understanding their journey.
Stage 1 Self Discovery as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual person, or Transgender
Becoming attentive of same-sex attraction or a alternative personal gender persona often causes sentimental conflict. This may include worry about being non-heterosexual, confusion, anxiety, and denial of feelings. This internal conflict often leads to tries to behave as heterosexual (i.e. “passing”). Sometimes individuals endeavor to “overcome” their sexuality or gender identity, particularly if they fear creature condemned by their faith. LGBTQ people are usually “in the closet” at this stage, which refers to keeping their identity to themselves. The matching is true for transgender individuals before they begin to disclose to others. Ian Watkins last night announced to fans that he is gay, as he prepared to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house.
H revealed his sexuality to The Sun, ending thirty years hiding in the closet from fans even while having a ten-year affair with STEPS male manager.
I come from a small valley in Wales, said H, 30, and it just wasnt the thing to perform to be gay. Its a bit of a cliche but I was the only homosexual in the village.
The singer-turned-actor, from Cwmparc in Rhondda Valley, added: People obtain married at 21 where I come from and if you dont undertake that, youre questioned.
You certainly dont come to London and become a pop tart! I was very different and it was very hard.
He said he hadnt come out until now because he lacked the courage.
I could never have done this years ago, never. I was still coming to terms with it myself. But Im comfortable with who I am now and I want everyone to know.
I feel like a weights coming off my shoulders. Its nice. Im glad Im doing this and feel its the right time.

The former Steps singer, who is from the Rhondda, filmed a personal account for BBC Wales' Week In Week Out.
In the programme, he also looked at schools' treatment of gay issues and admitted he was bullied "relentlessly".
Making the documentary, he said he was shocked to be told by one Christian campaigner that being homosexual made him no better than a serial killer.
Christian Voice director, Stephen Green, told Watkins his lifestyle was "sinful", and made him no excel than US mass murderer Jeffrey Dahmer.
Mr Green also told the former Celebrity Massive Brother contestant he could develop straight if he wanted to.
The comparison to Dahmer who was jailed for being in after the Wisconsin trial heard evidence of his cannibalism after murdering his victims came when Watkins told Mr Grassy he was "completely happy" existence gay and that he was in a loving relationship.
