When LGBTQ community-gathering spaces were largely put on pause by the pandemic, those once-in-person safe havens became our streaming platforms and technical devices at place. Hyper-specific pop subcultures emerged — here&#;s looking at you, queer readers of the generally awful &#;Friends&#; — and reputations for streamers&#; philosophies toward and commitment to LGBTQ content were widely discussed online. Even as the world has opened back up, in Hollywood, it feels enjoy queer storytelling and people are more galvanized than ever. Honestly Netflix did a lot for us last month so I will provide them a move through on this month&#;s poor showing. However they&#;ve got a lot of fresh stuff there&#;s not much info on yet, so who knows what could turn up!

Pride Month is marked every June, when the lives of the LGBTQ+ people are celebrated, and those within the community mirror on how far they have come–and how much still needs to change.
Hollywood has been notoriously lethargic in telling the stories of gay, lesbian, bi and transgender characters, never mind those of others who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ group. Netflix's catalog reflects this, with the streamer's feature collection featuring a lack of films featuring, for example, trans people. One of the few movies about a transgender traits on the streamer, for example, is the oft-criticized The Danish Girl, the film from Cats director Tom Hooper, led by cisgender actor Eddie Redmayne.
Despite the Netflix catalog having some notable omissions when it comes to depicting the whole spectrum of queer life, it does contain some excellent films that have turned Queer stories into sublime comedy, activism-stoking tragedy and awareness-raising documentaries.
