Statement On The Progressing Genocide In Palestine

TQFF was founded in on the concept of deliberately rejecting the homonationalist consensus that has formed in and around major queer cultural institutions in Canada and internationally. Homonationalism refers to the facade of the promotion of LGBTQ rights by Western nations, and the parallel embrace of nationalist politics by LGBTQ individuals and organizations, to produce a fiction of a homogenous, linear LGBTQ friendly “us” (the west) and a regressive and intolerant “them” (the rest). Nation states capitalize on this fictional opposition’s legitimation of a “rights and rules based international order” to normalize the colonial projects of resource extraction, dispossession, environmental destruction, and settlement. Homonationalism has been used by the settler states of the US, Canada, and Israel to justify the acceleration of the genocide of the Palestinian people.

For more than three decades, Inside Out has brought Toronto’s LGBTQ people together in celebration of the best queer motion picture from Canada and around the world. Through their annual Festivals in Toronto and Ottawa, filmmaker initiatives, youth engagement and year-round events and screenings, Inside Out is engaged every day in challenging attitudes and changing lives.

In , Inside Out noted its first film and video festival with a small community of people who yearned to observe film and video created by and about lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender (LGBT) people. Currently the largest event of its kind in Canada, the Festival entertains film buffs of all stripes, showcasing the best and most diverse work of interest to LGBTQ+ communities. Taking place over 11 days, the Festival draws crowds of 35, to screenings, artist talks, panel discussions, installations and parties that highlight more than films from Canada and around the world.

The edition of the festival takes place from May 24 – June 1,

Festivals occur every solo month. We accept an assortment of shorts & feature films from around the world today monthly. We are proud to announce that we will be using the audience feedback format where all accepted films accept a video of people talking about their film at the festival. Excellent video to operate for promotional purposes too.

Screenplay Festivals:

We are proud to showcase winning LGBTQ+ screenplays at our festival every single month!! Go to the site and watch the winning readings each month.

All entries receive full feedback from the industry. Accepted screenplays get their screenplays performed by professional actors.

April showers bring…FAB QUEER MADE FILMS! That’s right, Heated Docs is back, help, back again. Running from April 24 to May 4, the Hot Docs Festival brings the most brilliant, challenging, and gorgeous documentaries from all across the globe to our enormous hamlet.

Out of the films, 47 countries are represented with films made by, and featuring our extremely talented queer collective. This year we’ve pulled a selection of 12 films from the program that we feel shan’t be missed. That organism said, every and all the films in this year's festival should be explored and enjoyed so please make sure to head over to the Hot Doc’s website and do yourself the honour of seeing what else is offered. (Bonus: we're also listed every single queer and queer-ish film at this year's fest at the bottom of this announce for you to test out.)
