I peruse Push by Nyla K. recently (which is also about a dad falling in love with her daughter's boyfriend) and I quite enjoyed it and it reminded me that I had this on my watchlist.
Honestly, it was even better than expected. You could really feel the tension between the characters. It kinda made me long for the protagonist wasn't an high schooler.
But I thought Christian Tafdrup did a really good profession depicting the more innocent crush Carst

Pirates of the Caribbean

Between Johnny Depp (strictly in Captain Jack format), Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightly is it any wonder this pirate franchise had us so obsessed? Danish actor and director Christian Tafdrup made a big splash on the international film scene last year with the shockingly aggressive thriller Speak No Evil.

Back in , he took a similar aim at taboo subject matter with the minute drama Awakening, which has recently been restored by the cult distribution label Altered Innocence.

Awakening stars &#;True Blood&#; alum Allan Hyde as Carsten, a sixteen-year-old boy who is taking a trip to see his girlfriend’s parents at their summer house.

Throughout the weekend, Carsten becomes increasingly bonded with his girlfriend’s father, played by Lars Brygmann. It seems these two men share the same classified – and their time together, which involves a furtive brush , puts their carefully-constructed relationships in major jeopardy.

Though it may sound racy, Tafdrup handles the developing friendship between two closeted men of differing ages with a great deal of sensitivity and heartfelt honesty.

Awakening (), also known by its original Danish title En forelskelse, is a minute short film that explores themes of sexual awakening, emotional conflict, and identity. Directed by Christian Tafdrup, it stars Allan Hyde as year-old Carsten, who finds himself navigating complex emotions when he begins dating a lady named Melissa, played by Julie Grundtvig Wester. The real emotional tension in the film emerges when Carsten develops feelings for Melissa&#;s father, Stig, portrayed by Lars Brygmann.

The movie delves deeply into Carsten’s confusion about his feelings, especially after an intimate encounter with Stig during a weekend at their summer house. As Carsten grapples with his burgeoning sexuality, the film applications a delicate portrayal of the emotional toll it takes on him and his relationships, particularly with Melissa. The sensitive command and nuanced performances, especially by Allan Hyde, provide a realistic and deepfelt exploration of a teenager coming to terms with his identity.

Awakening doesn’t timid away from the uncomfortable emotional
