WNBA stars, wives and new moms Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley hold collaborated with Nike on Pride-inspired versions of their most-coveted sneaker styles. Vandersloot picked the cult-classic Gas Max 1 and the Sabrina 2, while Quigley reimagined the P and the Sabrina 2, too.

Nike celebrates Lgbtq+ fest Month by unveiling its BETRUE collection. For the first time, Nike incorporated the original eight-color Pride flag in its entire collection. This year’s emit pays homage to gay rights activist, Gilbert Baker, author of the symbolic Pride flag.

In , Harvey Milk inquired that Baker design a flag that could represent the LGBT community.  Baker got straight to work and his original sketch of the flag consisted of eight unlike fabric colors sewn together (pink, red, orange, yellow, grassy, turquoise, blue and purple).

In , he was then instructed to make crafted flags for the San Francisco Identity parade, however, the manufacturing company he worked with did not have enough pink fabric, making pink impossible to use for the flags.  Baker then decided to detach the turquoise dye to make the flag symmetrical.

Finally, summer is here, and so is Pride month. To mark the occasion, Nike has unveiled a series of new styles planned specifically with Pride in thought. A true moment for celebration, Nike’s latest shoes have been designed by legacy athletes Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley – a married couple who include just welcomed their first child. 

Both US-based professional basketball players, Courtney Vandersloot first met Allie Quigley in Slovakia, towards the complete of the /13 Euroleague season. Of course, they met on the basketball court when Quigley’s team (who won) played Vandersloot’s team during a five-game series. At that point, Vandersloot had already been playing with her US team for three years, and as a result of the impressive Slovakian championship, Quigley was also approached by them, despite very nearly quitting basketball for good.
