Burnley Pride

Burnley Pride is an event for the LGBT+ community and allies of Burnley to celebrate Burnley’s LGBT+ history and future! There will be lots to explore including stay performances, information stalls and workshops. The event is hosted by Burnley’s very own Drag Race UK contestant ‘Elektra Fence’ who will not only host the event but will also perform a brilliant closing act.

The event has been produced and organised by young producers from Stand Out and supported by Burnley based youth arts organisation, Blaze.

So unite us on Saturday 29 July and don’t yearn your chance to seize live performances by Adam Smikle, The Downtown Band, BB, Elektra Fence and more before dancing the night away with a live DJ set.

Sharing and celebrating our lives as gay/bi men fifty years after decriminalisation

Fifty years after decriminalisation of queer sex in England and Wales, and in response to requests for shorter events, we are offering this weekend for up to 25 participants. The theme is sharing and celebrating our own lives as men who cherish men, and also the progress of our community in the UK towards equality.

Programme

We plan for the weekend to run roughly as follows:

  • There will be opening and closing go rounds which will give participants a chance to share and honor something of their life experiences as men who affectionate men. We motivate you to transport with you an object which is or has been important to you on your journey. You can talk about its relevance at either depart round, or simply put it into the collection of objects which will be on a table as a focal point for the course of the event.
